Description of Apatite
Apatite is a calcium phosphate mineral and the reference point for 5 on the Mohs scale. The material used for polished goods is usually an opaque to translucent blue, blue-green or teal, sometimes with darker patches. Being moderately soft, it is shaped carefully, but it rewards the effort with vivid color and a smooth, glassy to slightly greasy luster.
