Black rainbow, also sold as black rainbow moonstone, is a trade name for a dark grey to black feldspar that shows flashes of blue and other colors when light hits it at an angle. Mineralogically it is closely related to labradorite rather than classic moonstone. As a feldspar it rates about 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale and polishes to a glassy luster.
