Fancy Jasper is a multicoloured jasper, an opaque microcrystalline quartz, known for swirls and patches of green, maroon, purple, tan and cream within one stone. No two pieces are the same, and banded or mostly green pieces are also sorted separately. It rates about 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale and takes a bright, even polish that sharpens its colour contrast.
