Description of Lepidolite
Lilac to lavender and full of tiny glinting flakes, lepidolite is a lithium-bearing mica. Pure mica is soft, around 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale, though the massive material used for carving often contains quartz that makes it firmer. It polishes to a pearly, shimmering finish, with small flecks that catch the light as the piece moves.
