Rhodonite is a manganese silicate mineral with a rose-pink to reddish-pink color, usually crossed by black veins of manganese oxide. It is harder than rhodochrosite, about 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, and polishes to a glassy luster. The contrast between pink body and black veining gives each piece a bold, graphic look, and no two tumbles carry quite the same vein pattern.
