Ruby zoisite, also called anyolite, is a natural rock of green zoisite with pink to red ruby crystals and black hornblende specks. The contrast of green and red makes it easy to recognize. The zoisite matrix rates about 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale while the ruby spots are much harder, so polishing needs care, but the finished surface shows a pleasing mix of satin and glossy areas.
