Description of Sodalite
Sodalite is a royal blue mineral from the feldspathoid group, usually streaked with white calcite and sometimes grey patches. It is often compared to Lapis Lazuli but lacks the gold pyrite specks. At about 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale it is moderately hard, and it polishes to a bright, slightly greasy lustre that shows off its contrasting veins.
