Description of Tigers Eye
Tiger's Eye is a golden-brown quartz with a silky, shifting band of light known as chatoyancy, created by fine parallel fibres inside the stone. When the stone is turned, the bands seem to glow and move. It rates about 7 on the Mohs scale, and polishing, especially into rounded or domed shapes, shows its sheen at its best.
