Description of Turquoise
Turquoise is a hydrated copper aluminum phosphate, prized for its sky-blue to blue-green color and often veined with a darker matrix. It rates about 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale and takes a waxy to soft glassy polish. Because natural turquoise is scarce, much of the turquoise on the market is stabilized, reconstituted or synthetic; our turquoise spheres, for example, are listed as synthetic.
