Description of Unakite
Pink and green in a mottled pattern, unakite is an altered granite made of orthoclase feldspar, pistachio-green epidote and a little clear quartz. The pattern is natural, so no two pieces look quite the same. With a hardness of roughly 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, unakite is tough enough for beads and carvings and polishes to a smooth, even shine, though small pits can appear where the different minerals meet.
