Goldstone is not a natural mineral but a man-made glass, first produced in Italy centuries ago, that sparkles because tiny copper crystals are suspended inside it. The classic version is a warm reddish-brown with gold glitter, while blue goldstone shows silver-white sparkle on a deep navy base. As a glass it sits around 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale and takes a bright, glassy polish that shows off the shimmer under shop lighting.
